Last Day of Kindergarten

We have finished kindergarten!

We had a great year of school. He is an awesome reader! We are having a relaxing summer break, just a few weeks. I am super excited to start first grade. We will be using Sonlight, Elemental science, and A Reason for Spelling/ Handwriting. I am unsure of what we will use for math. He seems to really dislike math...so I am doing a bit of research to find a new program.

Break!

We have been on a little break from school. Visit the family blog to see our adventures with basketball, being thankful, cutting down trees and a silly little elf.

Dewberry Farms Field Trip

Field trip to Dewberry Farms was a good day. It was windy but other wise the weather was good. He got to play with some friends and do some fun activites. I always enjoy talking with the other homeschool moms and watching him have a good time with buddies.

Black Bloom of Doom

This was a halloween science experiment that he did with some friends. It was to see how the flower takes up water and if it would change color or not. Now, ours did not turn black but sure did turn a nice shade of green. Thanks friend for doing this avtivity with him.

Water Pollution and Birds

We have been studying birds in school. In this experiment we discussed detergents in water and the effects on water birds. Turns out the birds will sink because the oils on their feathers will dissolve with detergent pollution and their feathers will become heavy and then they will sink.

Field Trip

Today we went to the Houston Arboretum with our Co-op group. It was our first visit and I loved it! It is like a forest right in the middle of the city. We went on a nature scavenger hunt then a picnic in the park. The kids got cards with nature things on them like a spider and web. A squirrel etc.

New friends. I call him names from bubba, bub, buddy, bud...M decided to call him Bud. It was pretty cute. Then I told her that sometimes I call him Little love and she got a kick out of that and called him little love while they chased each other in a circle.
